You have to give it to "Torchwood" for really reaching for emotionally complex stories. They may not hit every time, but they give it their all. This week’s efforts, while occasionally a bit obvious, still make for a compelling story, and dramatic tension tends to balance out the melodrama.
So, remember way back in the first episode, when Jack whacked the second-in-command at Torchwood? It seemed mostly like a good moment of drama for the series premiere, and a way to set up an opening for Gwen to step into, but as it turns out, it was also not quite over. There’s a murderer on the loose, and all trails lead back to Suzie.
