The SciFi Channel has bought a Japanese game show format called "Run For Money," in which contestants try to stay alive for 60 minutes as they are tracked down by "hunters." Metaphorically, at least, we’ve entered the terrain of dark-fantasy thriller writers from "The Most Dangerous Game" to "Hostel," as well as many, many parodies including one on "The Simpsons" in which Mr. Burns hunts Homer and the gang. It’s only a matter of time, folks, before someone combines this format with "America’s Most Wanted" and we’re gunning down real people for reality TV audiences. Just depends how long the writers strike goes on…
