August 16th, 2007 — Reality TV, So You Think You Can Dance
Let me save you the effort of watching the entire two hour finale spectacular for "So You Think You Can Dance," and tell you the key fact that everyone wants to know: Yes, Cat Deely’s dress was just as bad as you would expect. She looked like someone had surgically implanted a chocolate-lace fountain in her navel.
OK, no, seriously. You want to know if anything good happened in the two hours of performances by the top twenty dancers, video clips of episodes past, and soft-focus tender moments. Nah.
The moment I most liked was getting Brandon the clogger back on stage, dancing to Timbaland of all things:

OK, OK, the winner…
I was pleasantly surprised: Sabra won.

August 15th, 2007 — Danny Tidwell, Sabra Johnson, Lacey Schwimmer, Neil Haskell, So You Think You Can Dance
I’m emotionally and physically exhausted after watching tonight’s final performance round on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I can’t even begin to imagine how the final four dancers are feeling right now. Tonight was the last opportunity for Sabra, Danny, Lacey and Neil to show us what they’ve got before we the audience cast […]

August 15th, 2007 — Reality TV, So You Think You Can Dance
Passing thoughts during the next-to-last episode of "So You Think You Can Dance:"
The introductory group song is Liza Minelli. It’s supposed to be "slick" and "sophisticated" but it reminds me of your average community theater production: people who can dance do ballet, people who can sing do chorus, people who can act do non-singing theater, and people who can’t do any of those things put on a musical.
Sabra says she thinks she’s not sexy. I think she’s just saying that out of modesty, but if she means it, it’s kind of sad. But it’s also kind of cute that she doesn’t know how beautiful she is.
Neil says he thinks he’s sexy. I don’t think he’s joking. The only other people who think Neil is sexy are middle-aged gay men and twelve-year-old heterosexual girls. Sadly, they make up the entire voting bloc for SYTYCD, so I think we know who’s […]

August 14th, 2007 — Reality TV, So You Think You Can Dance
Yahoo! Buzz has a list of the top "So You Think You Can Dance" searches, and they make clear what I’ve been suspecting ever since Cedric got booted last month: the show’s most serious fans are young girls.
All four of the contenders left at this point are excellent dancers, but the searchers who put Neil in first place aren’t elevating him because he’s better than Danny or Sabra. They’re doing it because he’s cute and non-threatening. In my opinion, Cedric was among the best dancers, but was too tough to be crush-worthy, and that left him out in the cold last month. Last night’s elimination of Pasha was tricky, because he has smooth romantic image and professional-level ballroom skills. However, I think he’s just a little too grown-up, and the boy-band-worthy Danny Tidwell wins out there.
If I were deciding the show, I’d pick Sabra over any of the others. Frankly, […]

August 9th, 2007 — So You Think You Can Dance
So tonight they taped the results show for this week’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Two people went home. One guy and one girl. But here’s the thing…they let the audience out before the true results were revealed. With the live studio audience still in the theater each dancer was revealed as ’safe’. […]

Ok, I finally got around to watching last night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. What a show!! Here’s my very brief recap of each dance.

As hard as it is for me to write this, I have to be honest and admit that I only saw half of tonight’s episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I went to dinner with Moms & Pops GMMR and didn’t get home until 8:30pm. I plan on catching up on the episode […]

August 6th, 2007 — Dominic Sandoval, Sara Von Gillern, So You Think You Can Dance
This past week on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE we had to say goodbye to B-Ballers Dominic Sandoval and Sara von Gillern. Parting is such sweet sorrow, but it’s a bit easier when we know that we will see Dom and Sara on the SYTYCD Tour this summer. So just what are […]
