Bummer Of The Day: Strike Delays HBO Shows

The writers strike continues to mess with our TV-viewing habits. BuzzSugar reports that HBO shows like "Entourage," "Big Love" and "Flight of the Conchords," which we expected to return this summer, will be pushed to fall or even next January. Ditto for "True Blood," the vamp series from Alan Ball of "Six Feet Under" fame. Consolation prizes include the "Generation Kill" miniseries - and we know how well Iraq movies have been doing at the box office - plus two comedian, one animated and one Australian. Not good enough.

“Conchords,” “Entourage” To Get New Season

Variety reports that New Zealand’s near-favorite near-celebrities are going to be hanging around in New York for another year: HBO has renewed "Flight Of The Conchords."
This, plus a re-order for "Entourage," means HBO will have at least two solid grownup shows to use as it battles Showtime’s ongoing assault on its market share.

He’s Jemaine, But Not A Jackson

Most Americans still haven’t heard of Jemaine Clement right now, but he has an HBO comedy series getting serious hipster buzz with his buddy in Flight of the Conchords, the surprisingly not Canadian Bret McKenzie. And he’s also in the indie comedy "The Eagle and the Shark." Again, not big news here, but back home in the Conchords’ native New Zealand, he’s bigger news than a fungus on the Sauvignon Blanc vines. Maybe you out to check out this feature from the New Zealand Herald so you can get caught up before the COnchords’ Sept. 2 season finale on HBO.
