Courtesy of BWE, here’s a great video of Ellen DeGeneres dressed as a cowgirl, riding an “exercise machine” that mimics the action of a horseback ride. This is the closest I’ve seen to a mainstream treatment of sex toys since Vanessa Hudgens endorsed the Neutrogena face vibrator.
Warning: Co-blogger Joel wishes he could unsee the following video clip, but he can’t.

Shell Kepler, who played busybody Nurse Vining on "General Hospital," died this week of renal failure. She was 49, and had played the same role on the daytime soap from 1979 to 2002.
She also had roles in other long-running shows including "Three’s Company" and "CHiPs."

Just last week we were talking about how we needed to start covering "Passions"on this blog, because it’s got a really dedicated following. But it looks like we might be too late: The long-running soap has been denied a new season.
This is the second death for the show, which was previously axed by NBC before being picked up as a DirecTV exclusive. New episodes will air three times a week until August 2008, and at that point it will need to find a new home. Because the "Passions" audience is as dedicated as it is small, it seems unlikely that it will disappear entirely. Currently, speculation is that Oxygen or an internet video hub will pick it up instead.
If you don’t understand the appeal of the show, then you won’t understand the appeal of this video blog post from the world’s most dedicated "Passions" fan, Bailey:

"The Hills," the MTV docu-soap
"reality" show that follows Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and their friends through the travails
of being rich, cute, and televised, is drifting further and further from reality. Just Jared says that Star says that some photographers said that they saw Lauren "LC" Conrad and Heidi Montag being friendly in secret. They’ve been fighting viciously on the show. What’s up? Are they making up? Was this whole fight thing just a fake-out?
It doesn’t matter, really, except that the show’s going scripted. "The Hills" is hardly any more true to life than the goings-on at "Dante’s Cove," the gay supernatural romance soap opera.
Yes, there’s a gay supernatural romance soap opera. I had no idea either, but apparently it’s in its third season. Wikipedia says it’s had "mixed critical reviews" which I think means that some people (you know who you are!) were thrilled to have softcore […]

With the WGA on strike, non-union writers are having a field day, sort of. Sure, they’re being called scabs, and they’re having it made painfully clear that their work is not people’s first choice for entertainment. But on the plus side, it’s good enough for second best!
In celebration of their silver-medal status, WWE and "Family Feud" will be having five crossover episodes this week. What, you think the WWE wrestlers write all that trash-talking themselves, or that game-show hosts have all that friendly banter ad-libbed? Hell no. They’ve got writers for that. Non-union writers.
Sadly, John O’Hurley will not be facing off in a cage match with Vince McMahon. (An aside: You know what would be hilarious? Bob Barker vs. John O’Hurley. Folding chairs. You see where I’m going with this. Shattered hips everywhere.)
Instead, "Family Feud" will be having five episodes of boys-vs-girls competition with WWE superstars. Ric Flair, Mr. […]

SeriouslyOMG has a great video (which I can’t embed here) of Drew Carey dressed up for Halloween. He’s a vampire, the Beauties are zombies, and the prize is a horror to drive: a Pontiac Vibe.
And I don’t mean horror in a good way. It’s just not a very good car.

You know what I like about "The Price Is Right?" It reflects a beautiful, optimistic America that you just don’t see on other shows. Drew Carey is upbeat, the prize announcer and the spokesmodels are upbeat, the go-go 60’s colors in
the set are upbeat, that old-fashioned stick microphone is upbeat, the promise of shiny home appliances and
vacations in Bali are upbeat. This whole show is an exercise in sparkling, shiny happiness. No wonder it’s stuck around for 36 seasons.
A goofy fat man with a funny voice just got up on stage. I mean, aside from Drew Carey. I guess that’s two goofy fat dudes with funny voices on the stage. Most shows have just one heavy person and their weight is the subject of all kinds of jokes, but not here. Here, it’s just some guy named Bernard from Rancho Cucamonga who just won a jeep worth $19,675. He’s […]
